PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

RELIGIOUS BUILDING CAMP

1. CampRoh (Religious Camp)

At Little Sun School Lower Secondary, we organize an engaging annual program called Religious Camp, designed to support students’ spiritual growth and promote mutual respect among different faiths.

Students of Christianity and Catholicism participated in activities at Griya Aloysii, where they praised God together through worship, prayer sessions, group games, and reflective sharing. Meanwhile, students of Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism, and Hinduism joined activities at Mahavihara Mojopahit, engaging in collective prayers, temple visits, and spiritual learning. Our Muslim students also prayed together and took part in Malam Jumat Legi, a special community gathering involving shared meals and prayers with local residents. Through this program, students learn not only about their own faith, but also about respect, harmony, and unity in diversity.

2. Multifaith Worship

Every year, Little Sun School – Lower Secondary organizes a Multifaith Worship Program, where our students and teachers take part in religious services according to their respective beliefs.

Christian students attend worship at GKA Gloria Pacar, while Catholic students participate in mass at Gereja Katolik Paroki Redemptor Mundi. Muslim students pray at Masjid Cheng Ho, Hindu students attend worship at Pura Segara Kenjeran, and Buddhist students also join worship sessions at Vihara Mahavihara Graha.

What makes this program unique is that all worship activities are conducted in Mandarin, allowing our students to practice language skills while deepening their spiritual understanding. Through this program, our students learn not only about faith, but also about tolerance, respect for diversity, and harmony among different religions.

This Multifaith Worship Program aims to nurture our students’ spiritual growth while strengthening cultural awareness and unity in diversity. We hope this experience continues to inspire our students to become respectful, open-minded, and compassionate individuals in a multicultural society.

3. Catholic Choir Service Program

Every few months, Catholic students of Little Sun School – Lower Secondary take part in a choir service program, performing Mandarin praise songs at selected Catholic churches in Surabaya. Before each service, our students dedicate their time to regular rehearsals at school, practicing vocal techniques, pronunciation, and harmony to ensure their performance reflects both musical quality and sincere worship.

Through this program, our students not only develop their musical abilities, but also learn the values of commitment, discipline, teamwork, and serving others through their talents.
This choir service aims to nurture our students’ spiritual growth while building confidence and responsibility. We hope this experience continues to inspire students to use their talents meaningfully and grow as individuals who serve with faith, humility, and joy.

SOCIAL CHARACTERS

1. LSSR (Little Sun Social Responsibility)

Every year, the Student Council (OSIS) of Little Sun School – Lower Secondary organizes LSSR (Little Sun Social Responsibility) as part of the school’s commitment to community service and social awareness.

During the month of Ramadan, OSIS students and teachers work together to prepare around 300 cups of iced drinks, which are then distributed to people who are fasting, including school staff, online drivers, and members of the public such as pedestrians and local workers. This activity encourages our students to actively participate in helping others and to experience the joy of sharing with the community.

Through LSSR, our students learn the values of empathy, kindness, and social responsibility. We hope this program continues to inspire our students to care for others and contribute positively to society.

2. Art Auction (Lelang Lukisan)

Some of our talented students who have a passion for painting organized an art auction to raise funds for Yayasan Kanker Anak Indonesia.

These artworks are not just ordinary paintings, but Chinese paintings (中国画) that reflect traditional Chinese art styles. The students created meaningful pieces such as bamboo (竹子), loofah (丝瓜), crabs (螃蟹), grapes (葡萄), and the red-crowned crane (丹顶鹤), each symbolizing different values such as resilience, growth, and hope. The fundraising auction started with a minimum bid in multiples of IDR 25,000, allowing the school community to participate and contribute easily.

Through this activity, our students learned that art can be more than self-expression and it can also be a way to share kindness and support others. We hope this program inspires our students to use their talents to make a positive impact and bring hope to those in need.

3. Little Sun Ambassador

Duta Little Sun is a program designed to develop role model students who demonstrate good character, positive attitudes, and strong ethics. These students serve as school ambassadors, representing Little Sun School and helping to build a positive image both within and outside the school community.

Every year, Little Sun School – Lower Secondary organizes the Duta Little Sun selection program. Participants undergo a four-day training program, which includes sessions on public speaking, manners, leadership, and self-development to prepare them as confident and responsible representatives.

During the Grand Final, finalists engaged in a question-and-answer session with the judges and demonstrated their talents through stage performances. The 2025 winners were Efraim Matteo Tanoto (陈国泰) with a flute performance and Joylie Eugene Christianto (李恩欣) with an Indonesian traditional dance.

We hope that through Duta Little Sun, our students will grow into confident, respectful, and inspiring individuals. This program aims to nurture future leaders who uphold strong values and proudly represent Little Sun School at every opportunity.
